Must Buy SS12 Trends

With the Fall 12 hows just ending,it sometimes hard to keep your mind planted in the here and now. So i'm going to meet you halfway.I've told you the trends for SS12 but there's some certain MUST BUY pieces that you cant live with out...........so here goes:-

1. Colour block Plants
This trend isn't going anywhere,we saw it everywhere in 2011 and they are also staying for Fall 12. So find yourself flaunting a pair of colour block statement bottoms.

These cropped trousers are from Max Mara £245

Tapered cropped trousers from Marc Jacobs £300

These pegged trousers are from Whistles £125

Cropped trousers from Karen Millen £105

2. Little White Dress
Having an easy, breezy little white frock is a must for SS12. There are so many options. To toughen this trend up, wear black tights and a leather jacket.

White dress from Topshop £36

I love this white shirt dress from ASOS £38.

Dress from Oasis £65, worn with a biker jacket for a more tougher look.

3. Pastel with Pop
As i mentioned in my earlier blog, pastel colours are huge right now, they are all over the high street shops and on catwalks. Pastel colours can be matched with bright neon shades in the same colour group. High street shops like Oasis and Warehouse are great to purchase some pastel pieces.

This skirt is my favourite, its a leather pleated skirt from Oasis £98. I just love the fact that its leather in such a subtle colour, definitely a must buy for me.

Belted crepe shorts from Warehouse £38

4. White Jeans
White jeans are extra hot for this season, they appeared a lot at London Fashion Week. If your not sure of white/ivory jeans, try them in pale pink, yellow or mint green.

great look for SS12

5. Tangerine Dream
Orange is huge for SS12 and will continue to Fall 12. Luckily it compliments most skin tones. Can be worn all over or separate pieces.

Biker Jacket from Topshop £58

This skater dress is great for this season only £24 Miss Selfridges

Hugest Fall Trends from Europe's Runway

Models are on vacation, the designers are sleeping in and the photographers are finally letting their camera's cool down.

The themes for Fall are boxier shapes, twists on work dressing, nerdy grunge revamps but I've narrowed it down to get our style gears turning. From padded hips to the return of the cosby sweater.

Here are the trends, you'll see everyone wearing come fall:-

1. Padded hips
Exaggerated full hips, this is great for those who don't have an hourglass figure.
                                                 Stella McCartney Catwalk

2. Peaches
Softer and more soulful than last seasons pale pink, peach is a colour that looks great with each other or paired with vibrant hues.
                                                                      Chloe Catwalk

3. Laser Cut Lace
Thick fabrics were laser cut with lace patterns

4.Glitzy trend
Normal tweed but given a makeover with metallic threads, slimmer silhouettes and embellishment.

5. Pearl beading
Whether scattered on sheer dresses or used to create embroidery, pearls are in for Fall.

6.Cosby Sweaters
I think the Dad from "Cosby Show" would've been all over these graphic in your face sweaters. I loved how they were styled with solid coloured skirts, boots and turtle necks.

7. Silver Trimmings
Instead of large swathes of silver, metallic shades were used in unexpected places.

8. Extra Large Coats
Coats with wide shoulders, baggy sleeves and knee length cuts were ubiquitous this season

9.Long Shift Dresses
From ankle length to floor length, these long shift dresses help create a super sleek silhouette while playing with patterns, embellishments and prints.

10. Skirt Suits
These suits are not your average corporate suits, these suits are made out of awesome materials and can even been worn on a night out.

Hope you enjoyed reading this and it gives you a head start for AW12.

New African Fashion

British born but my parents are from West Africa,Ghana. For this reason I was brought up knowing the African culture and it's fashion, however I never embraced it as I felt it was not on trend.
To my surprise, over the years African Fashion has immensely involved and become accepted world wide.
Top designers like London based Burberry and New York based Marc McNairy are showcasing African prints/fabrics and celebrities are wearing African Prints.

African Fashion is now taking a global approach. By fusing local and international inspirations, designers are offering the fashion world something new so keep an eye out!!!

                                                           SS12 Burberry Catwalk
                                                        Solange Knowles wearing Burberry SS12

Chloe Kardashian in an african print skirt

Beyonce in a traditional african head piece.

Prints Galore

For SS12, my favourite trend has to be PRINTS!!!!
Ditch your wardrobe basics and opt for vibrant prints this season. You may think its a bold step but simply adding a print, updates your look instantly. With different colours to choose from, you are spoilt for choice.

For a less daring look, opt for printed accessories like a scarf. If your a dare devil, go for clashing prints, they look great together with shots of bright bold colours.

Pulling of this look does require confidence but with the right pieces, this trend will be your favourite.

Whether you choose  printed accessories, or an all over printed ensemble, prints are huge this season.
